Award Definitions

 

Distinguished Technical Communication

Entries meet or exceed high standards in all areas. They contain no major flaws and few, if any, minor flaws. These entries apply the principles of technical communication in a superior way, particularly in how they anticipate and fulfill the needs of the audience.

 

Excellence

Entries consistently meet high standards in all or most areas. An entry might contain a single major flaw or a few minor flaws, but It clearly demonstrates an exceptional understanding of technical communication principles.

 

Merit

Entries consistently meet high standards in most or some areas. They might contain major or minor flaws, but still apply technical communication principles proficiently.

 

 

These awards do not represent first, second, or third places, instead each entry is evaluated on its own merit against industry standard. One Best of Show award is recognized for the entire competition.
